At Vineyard Squadron, we're just a couple of Navy Veterans with a love for wine. We produce red wines primarily from a handful of vineyards out of the Estrella District in the Paso Robles AVA and also chardonnay from the Edna Valley AVA. After serving five years in the Navy, owner/vintner John Burke began his wine career at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. Upon graduating from Arizona State University, John spent the next 20 years working in the California wine industry. In 2017, he met fellow Navy Veteran and winemaker Leon Tackitt from Tackitt Family Vineyards in Paso Robles, CA. Leon and Cindy Tackitt started Tackitt Family Vineyards in 2010 after Leon retired from the Navy. The winery is in historic San Miguel which is in the Estrella District of Paso Robles. At Tackitt, we produce a number of delicious wines for Vineyard Squadron and John Michael Wines including Petite Sirah from Leon's estate vineyard. Together they make wines that are focused on the vineyards out of California's Central Coast and the Paso Robles wine region.
